My poems used to be happy and cheerful
But now they are dark and dismal
My poems used to be fun; good messages sending
But now they are deep, darkness unending
What happened, I don’t really know,
What happened to the laughter, light as snow?
What made the light-heart turn to stone?
What made the serious, somber poem?
So much for fun, little rhymes
So much for light-hearted, playful times
Hello dirges, deep and dark
Goodbye silly rhymes, fleeting like a lark

I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think i know enough of hate,
To say that for destruction ice is also great,
And would suffice.
